Stucco textures and finishing Stucco textures are many ,.I have a sample books for that and usually owner chooses colors and textures If you need more informations of them all major EIFS suppliers have on their websites all textures ,more details and with bigger pictures for reference.I`ve been working with ALL of them and can tell you all of them are pretty good . Some of them are slightly more expensive from others. Allot of choice and personal preference If you have chosen particular EIFS supplier - No problem
FINISHING (finish coat) Finish coats or texture are the CULMINATION and the end of every stucco EIFS job. The finisher must be very experienced to give you a good looking job. So far I met very few guys that can deliver outstanding quality finishes-- To achieve 100% clean wall with NO MARKS is NOT always into the hands of finisher, but the 2 stages before the finish coat.. This is an ART and very few are understanding it in deep details and capable of delivering top quality finishes Common quality problems with finishing 1) MULTI HAND FINISHING!!(These problems below are NOT PRESENT in ANY of MY JOBS) One common problem , is this that when finishing big walls (tall amd wide), let say 3 level of scaffold ,,, usually they are each level applier and finisher so total 6 guys which work together let say from right corner toward left one- When wall finished and scaffold taken down you see 3 different quality finishes each one distinct from other and in between each one ugly area of transition from one side of the wall to the other and all around. If you have 3 levels scaffold so there are 2 such areas of transition and 3 slightly different finishes(3 different hands) I highly recommend possibly one hand finishing (one guy) Soon will find a example of this and will post it here . In the picture above you see exactly same problem
Perfect example for multihand finishing
In the picture above see the middle lighter area and above it and below it the darker area all along wall
When wall is divided into panels with expansion joints (which are very important!!) not only for easier and better finishing , but for less costly repairs and especially absorb surface expansion and contraction (imagine accordion belows) and I highly recommend them - THEN you can use one guy to finish your wall- , It is very difficult to teach 2-3 guys to do almost identical finishes - in most cases impossible!!--then at least you would have same quality consistency all around!! How we do it ?? - this is one from my trade secrets!! 2) DARKER AND LIGHTER COLORS finishing Darker (DARK) colors are much more difficult to finish without defects!!Lighter colors are MUCH EASIER to finish - even un-uniform area defects looks still good in lighter colors- unless under certain angle the sun or day light. WHY!!Reason lies with physics of light reflection from surface. Simply Darker colors ( I mean DARK) Absorb and light allot. Any defect reflects light differently - usually looks lighter!! The ratio of reflection from defect- no defect area is GREATER.. In Lighter colors this ratio is very small!!So you don`t see much difference. EXAMPLE Will POST soon The secret to PERFECT FINISH COAT lies at least 60% into the work done into the stages BEFORE that,, which is also trade secret!!
